Ring Rescue Provides a Solution for a Pressing ER Problem

Kevin Spencer, CEO and Founder, Ring Rescue (right) demonstrates his devices with the help of Jason Cleaversmith, Executive Director, Emergence program (left) at the Canada Pavilion, BIO International 2025 conference in Boston.
Founded in 2018, Ring Rescue has developed specialized medical device solutions to address a surprisingly common challenge in healthcare โ the safe removal of stuck rings. An estimated 55% of the adult population wears rings, and finger swelling can cause a snug ring to become stuck, escalating into a finger-threatening emergency affecting hundreds of thousands of patients annually across North America.
Further complicating the problem is the rise in popularity of modern, ultra-durable ring materials. In essence, rings have changed while removal devices have not โ creating a clear gap in care that Ring Rescue has addressed. Their technology was recently featured on HBO Max's The Pitt.
