This year's Atlantic Delegation heading to San Diego for BIO 2026 (June 22-25) include Emergence companies: Myomar Molecular, Triple Hair, Hexiris Ophthalmics, Galenvs Sciences, Pegasus Biotech, and Somru BioScience. Wishing all the companies a prosperous journey!
Companies participating in the Mentoring program came together with their mentors in Charlottetown in early June to discuss their growth and to seek expert insights. Mentors were impressed by the companies' engagement and progress! Jamal Daoud with Galenvs also delivered a presentation on their use of AI technology to improve workflow and production processes.
Myomar Molecular closed an outstanding $3.5 M seed round of investment in May.
Amar Seafood received the green light for a planned expansion of its fish farm operations in Victoria PEI.
Chinova Bioworks won the Innovative Exporter of the Year Award (under $10 million) at the 2026 New Brunswick Export Awards.
Emergence partnered with Stroke of Luck and Ring Rescue to promote their technology at MedTechNB that was held in Moncton from May 19 to 20. Breathe Biomedical also demonstrated their latest technology, which will soon be introduced in New Brunswick as part of a broader clinical trial study.
Somru BioScience and Pegasus Biotech had the opportunity on May 13th to showcase what bioscience company success in Atlantic Canada means to Hon. Mélanie Joly, Minister of Industry during her visit to Charlottetown.
WellFish and Somru BioScience were part of a PEI BioAlliance BioNetworking panel that recently presented to PEI-based companies their application of AI for process improvement.
Nature's Crop International and Chinova Bioworks have been on the Spring international trade show circuit pitching their high-quality natural ingredients for cosmetic formulation application.

Bill Dawes, CEO of Breathe BioMedical at MedTech NB Summit — Bill Dawes, CEO of Moncton's Breathe BioMedical demonstrated the company's promising platform at last month's MedTech NB Summit – the company is currently running clinical trials to support bringing it to market.

Breathe BioMedical Achieves 88% Accuracy in Breath-Based Breast Cancer Detection

A Moncton-based biotech company has achieved 88.2% accuracy in distinguishing between the breath signatures of women with and without early-stage breast cancer through a simple breath test — a result that holds regardless of breast tissue density, the very factor that renders standard mammography unreliable for nearly half of all women. Breathe BioMedical is now running a multi-center clinical trial across three major U.S. research institutions, including the Mayo Clinic, George Washington University, and Duke University, with the goal of bringing the test to market through FDA and Health Canada approval.

The clinical breakthrough is substantial. More than 40% of Canadian women have dense breast tissue, a condition that both elevates cancer risk and dramatically reduces mammography's ability to detect tumors. Women with dense breasts are up to 18 times more likely to have a cancer missed between screenings — and those missed cancers tend to be diagnosed at a later, more aggressive stage. Existing supplemental screening tools such as MRI and ultrasound are effective but expensive and largely inaccessible outside major urban centres, leaving a critical gap in care for women across Atlantic Canada and beyond.
